What ShortSnap Does

ShortSnap is a personal content organization application that allows users to save and organize references to publicly accessible content, including links to posts shared on external websites and social media platforms.

Saved items are visible only to the user who saved them and are intended for private reference and organization.

Information We Collect

ShortSnap collects only the minimum information necessary to operate the service:

• Account information such as email address (when provided by the user)
• Links or URLs explicitly saved by the user
• User-created titles, notes, tags, and collections
• Limited embed metadata (such as title, thumbnail image, and provider name) for public content, retrieved via official embed mechanisms
• Basic technical information such as device type and app version

Information We Do Not Collect

ShortSnap does not collect or access:

• Passwords or login credentials for third-party platforms
• Private posts, messages, or media from social networks
• Content from accounts you do not own or control

Third-Party Platforms and Content

ShortSnap does not scrape, download, copy, modify, or redistribute third-party content.

When a user saves a link to a public Facebook or Instagram post, ShortSnap may use Meta oEmbed to retrieve limited metadata required to display a preview. All media remains hosted on the original platform and is rendered only through official embed responses.

Access to third-party content occurs only when initiated by the user.

How We Use Information

Collected information is used solely to:

• Provide and maintain the ShortSnap service
• Display and organize user-saved content
• Prevent duplicate saves and improve content recognition
• Maintain service reliability and performance

ShortSnap does not use third-party content for advertising, analytics, profiling, or tracking purposes.

Data Retention

• User data is retained only for as long as the user maintains an active account
• Embed metadata is deleted immediately when a saved item is removed
• All user data is permanently deleted upon account deletion or a valid data deletion request

ShortSnap does not retain Facebook or Instagram data independently of user-saved items.

Data Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
